Xiaomi introduces value for money Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus

For the past two years, the budget and midrange smartphone categories in the Philippines have been dominated by the same brands. Today, Xioami disrupts the status quo with the launch of its two new smartphones, the Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus.

Xiaomi goes for the competitors’ jugulars by offering smartphones with the same or better core specifications and features at a affordable prices.

Dubbed the entry-level smartphone king, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A retails for only P4,590. At this price, this 5-inch device boasts a 13MP rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, and a 3000mAh battery. It comes with a metallic matte finish and is available in three colors: dary gray, gold, and rose gold.

Aside from the launch of the new Redmi devices, Xiaomi also introduced its new partners in the country—Lazada and Shopee for online retail, and Grimalkin Corporation as its official distributor. The company is also set to open its second Authorized Mi Store in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong on March 17, 2018, following the inauguration of its first ever concept store in TriNoma, Quezon City.

The Redmi 5A goes on sale on Xiaomi’s official Lazada Mi Store starting March 15, 2018 with a promotional launch price of P4,390. Meanwhile, the 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage Redmi 5 Plus variant will be available starting March 17, 2018 at Authorized Mi Stores in the Philippines.
