In June 2020, Nintendo announced a new Pokémon Snap game, a sequel to the delightful 1999 N64 photo-taking classic. At the recently held Pokémon Presents, the company unveiled new gameplay footage for the long-awaited sequel.
The New Pokémon Snap sees player take on a budding Pokémon photographer’s role in the Lental region. Through this, players will work with Professor Mirror, the region’s expert, on an ecological survey to photograph Pokémons thriving in nature.
The game includes 200 Pokemon from eight generations of games.
Gameplay remains similar to its predecessor but introduces some new mechanics, such as a photo-sharing feature and a ranking system.
During the livestream event, the Pokémon Company also announced it was working on a few projects, including remakes for the original DS titles and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, an open-world RPG that takes place long before the other Pokémon titles.
New Pokémon Snap will release on April 30 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
