Vivo patents phone display with four hole punch cutouts

Vivo has never been shy to make smartphones with out-of-the-box designs. The brand paved the way for the pop-up selfie camera with the Vivo NEX, and now it’s trying out a daring new design: not just one, but four hole punch cutouts on a smartphone’s display.

According to GizChina and Tigermobiles, the smartphone maker filed a patent for the design at China’s intellectual property office. The filing shows three layouts for the cutouts. It looks like the brand hopes to continue making notch-less displays with this new design.

The leak also reveals a triple rear camera setup on the render.

Again, this is just a patent, so it isn’t necessarily indicative of a future product. But, who knows?
