vivo recently held its annual developer conference in China where it officially took the wraps off OriginOS, the Android skin to take over FuntouchOS.
OriginOS features a whole new look with more interactive widgets, new gestures, and a grid-like layout. vivo says this tile-like design the widgets follow is inspired by Huarong Dao, a Chinese sliding block puzzle. Similar to iOS 14, this new Android skin allows users to customize widget sizes. In addition, tapping on a widget brings out more information and controls. It also displays “Nano Alerts,” which display notifications from an app within the widget.
For gestures, there are 26 combinations, which start with a tap at the bottom of the screen. Another new functionality the OS introduces is SuperCard, which lets users make quick and easy mobile payments.
OriginOS will also come with Multi-Turbo 5.0 for memory optimization. This way, even phones with lower RAM specs will be able to run on the skin.
“The genesis of OriginOS centers around three frontiers based on smartphone consumer demands: design, smoothness and convenience,” Vivo shared. “OriginOS repurposes familiar features with new exciting designs to create the ultimate smartphone experience.”
