Wave of mystery
There is still so much mystery surrounding the character of Wave. And Marvel has been mum about details on their newest Filipina superhero. But here’s what we know of the story she’ll be involved in, so far:
As you may recall from the Thor movies and comic book series, evil forces across the universe have been making moves to disrupt the peace and take rule over the Nine Realms. In War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas, Malekith the Accursed (yes, the same alien elf lord who Loki fraternized with) has finally invaded Earth.
He splits the globe into different provinces and puts one of his collaborators to rule over each one. Sindr, the Immortal Queen of Muspelheim, together with her legions of Fire Demons, have taken Asia and the Pacific Rim.
Amadeus Cho–a.k.a. Brawn, a.k.a. the new Hulk–reassembles his former Agents of Atlas team. This includes Shang-Chi (a Chinese Kung Fu master), Silk (aka Cindy Moon, an Asian female version of Spider-man who also appears in the Spider-verse storyline), and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo (the same character played by Korean actor Randall Park in Ant-Man and The Wasp).
Aside from Wave, new additions to the team also include two Chinese superheroes named Aero and Sword Master, as well as new Marvel Universe characters. Crescent, Io, and Luna Snow.
“War of the Realms is this big, big Marvel universe story involving all the heroes from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Wolverine, the whole line,” Marvel editor Will Moss shared. With the addition of Wave and other Asian characters, we’re excited how things will pan out.
War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas is a tie-in miniseries that highlights Asian superheroes defending the Pacific Rim. Written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Gang-Hyuk Lim, this comic will hit shelves in May.
