The vehicle that created the small sport SUV segment more than 20 years ago is now all grown up. The soft curves of the first-generation model have been replaced over time by more chiseled lines and sharp edges. Now, the fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 is sporty and tough-looking, especially with that aggressive front.
Adding to the RAV4’s rugged charm are its tapered headlights, restyled headlights, a sporty front bumper, square wheel arches with black cladding, and either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
Under the hood of the all-new RAV4 is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Dual VVT-i gasoline engine that puts out 203hp and 243Nm. It’s also equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Safety equipment includes seven airbags, 8-eye front and rear sensors, backup camera, ABS with emergency brake signal, vehicle stability control, traction control, and hill-start assist control.
Interior amenities include a new floating 7-inch touchscreen display , an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory and lumbar support, inside rearview mirror, and even a wireless charger for your smartphone.
The all-new RAV4 won’t have a 4×4 version for our market, but if off-road versatility isn’t an issue, then this a crossover that you shouldn’t overlook. Price starts at P1,638,000 for the 2.5 LE variant, while the XLE goes for P1,870,000. The top-spec LTD is priced at P2,188,000.
