Telegram now lets you import chat history from other apps

Telegram’s latest update has a new feature that’ll come in handy when you’re switching through different apps: soon, you can migrate chat history from other messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line, and KakaoTalk.

Users can import chats from WhatsApp into the latest version of Telegram and continue conversations, as long as both users have Telegram accounts. Messages will be imported into the current day, but their original timestamps will be retained.

To move chats from WhatsApp on iOS, go to Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp > tap on Export Chat, and choose Telegram from the menu.

Meanwhile, Android users need to open a WhatsApp chat > tap the three dot icon (⋮) > More > Export Chat, then select Telegram.

This feature comes after WhatsApp’s controversial privacy policy change has prompted users to switch to other messaging apps.

Other additions with the update include more chat deletion options, where you can now remove chats and calls for all participants in direct and group chats. In addition, you’ll also get the option to adjust volume levels individually for voice chats.

Telegram is available for download for iOS, Android, and desktop.
