TECNO Mobile has taken the wraps off its latest device in the Philippines. It’s called the TECNO Mobile Spark 6 Air, but, really, there’s nothing lightweight about it—well, except for its price. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
The Spark 6 Air comes in a colorful box that includes, of course, the Spark 6 Air unit itself. We got the Cloud White colorway, but the phone is also available in Ocean Blue and Comet Black. It’s a pretty huge phone and is quite thick at 9.3 millimeters.
Also included in the box are a SIM ejector tool, a warranty sticker and card for the 13-month warranty that TECNO Mobile is offering, a jelly case, a power brick, a microUSB cable, and a pair of earphones.
The Spark 6 Air is a huge phone, thanks to a massive 6.95-inch IPS-LCD display. Yup, that’s almost 7 inches—and it’s quite an awesome size for watching videos. It has a 1640 x 720 HD+ resolution and there’s a dot-notch at the top that houses the front-facing camera. Now, while the pixel density isn’t that high, we found it acceptable for casual viewing.
The back cover is glossy, but thanks to this Cloud White color, fingerprint smudges aren’t really that visible. At the top left is the camera module, which houses the triple camera system.
The power and volume keys are located on the right edge and are clicky and accessible. The fingerprint scanner, however, is positioned a bit high.
At the bottom edge of the Spark 6 Air are the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and a microUSB charging port for the included 10-Watt power brick.
Speaking of, this phone comes with a beefy 6,000mAh cell. That’s a plus for a phone that’s less than P5,000. During our time with this device, the battery lasted a day and a half with moderate usage at 50% screen brightness. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t support fast charging, so it takes a while to fully charge the battery. Then again, that’s understandable given the price of this phone.
The Spark 6 Air is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio A25 chipset paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 3GB RAM, and 32GB built-in storage. The chip is quite old, but it’s still good enough for productivity, multitasking, and even some games such as Mobile Legends and Call of Duty: Mobile. To further improve performance while playing, TECNO Mobile equipped this phone with a game mode, which optimizes the CPU, GPU, and memory.
The three lenses at the back include a 13-megapixel sensor, an AI lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There’s no dedicated Night mode here, and TECNO Mobile tries to make up for it with the quad flash feature at the back. In fairness, the resulting photos come out pretty good for posting on social media.
The Spark 6 Air also offers a notable software feature called Audio Share. This lets you connect up to three Bluetooth speakers or two Bluetooth headphones to the phone. This means you can watch with another person without having to split earphones with him or her. You can use two separate earbuds and enjoy watching in peace.
As mentioned, there’s nothing lightweight about the Spark 6 Air—except for its price. This big-screen phone with an equally big battery is priced at only P4,690.
So, if you’re looking for a phone with a huge display, decent camera system, and a long-lasting battery life at an accessible price point, consider checking out the TECNO Mobile Spark 6 Air.
