Samsung has officially announced that the next Galaxy Unpacked event is happening on August 11. While the South Korean giant didn’t pinpoint what it’s about to drop, its not-so-subtle invitation points to its upcoming foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
In the video Samsung posted on social media on Wednesday, July 21, viewers can see two rectangles and two squares forming what seems to be the Galaxy Z Fold 3 on the left and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 on the right. Another tell-tale sign is the event’s tagline that says “Get ready to Unfold.”
Based on leaks released last May, the two smartphones are getting a few changes from its predecessors in terms of design.
The Z Flip 3 is getting a much larger cover display with its camera lens repositioned vertically. It also appears that with the expanded display, users can finally read incoming messages, notifications, and other useful data.
Meanwhile, the Z Flip 3 is reportedly getting a two-tone design with the black cover display serving as a stunning contrast to the rest of the rear panel. Word has it that the upcoming device will also be compatible with Samsung’s S Pen, which is currently limited to the Galaxy Note lineup.
One thing that the company confirmed, though, is that it will unveil a new Galaxy Watch at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. According to Mashable, Samsung announced the news last June, alongside the announcement of its new One Watch UI smartwatch interface.
This will be the first smartwatch to run Wear, the new operating system from Google and Samsung. The new unified platform will be focused on faster performance and longer battery life.
The Galaxy Unpacked will be streamed live at 10 p.m. PST on www.samsung.com.
