’80s iconic cyborg RoboCop is back with its first video game after 20 years.
The video game, titled RoboCop: Rogue City, was unveiled by publisher Nacon during its livestream event on Tuesday, July 6. It is the powerful cyborg’s first solo title since it appeared as a bonus character in Mortal Kombat 11 way back 2003.
Created in collaboration with developer Teyon and studio MGM, Rogue City will put players in the high-tech armor of Alex Murphy, aka RoboCop, on a mission to protect Detroit. Nacon said that it will feature an original story in the franchise’s universe.
Here is the official synopsis for the game:
Become the iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit. Armed with your trusty Auto-9, factory-built strength, years of experience on the force and a variety of tools at your disposal, you will fight forces seeking to destroy the city you call home in an all new first-person, explosive hunt for the truth. You have the power to decide how to fulfill prime directives in your own way, but as the story unfolds proceed with caution because corruption and greed know no limits.
RoboCop: Rogue City is set to release in 2023 on PC and consoles.
