Last November, PLDT Home announced that it is launching the first-ever 10,000Mbps fiber-optic service in the Philippines. Last week, the internet service provider even held a simultaneous launch in Bonifacio Global City, Cebu, and Davao, and had a futuristic projection mapping display in BGC to show what the world can look like when it’s powered by internet speeds of up to 10,000Mbps.
So, what can you actually do with 10,000Mbps internet speeds?
According to PLDT, with this kind of connection, multiple users can use multiple devices using high-bandwidth internet activities simultaneously. These include:
- 4K/8K video streaming
- high-res video conferencing
- lag-free gaming
- remote video monitoring/archiving
- smooth-as-butter livestreaming on your favorite platforms such as Twitch, Hitbox, Beam, Azubu, and more
With this speed, downloading and uploading a 5GB file will take less than five seconds.
Basically, a 10,00Mbps—that 10Gbps—can power a bandwidth-hungry smart home and even new metaverse applications that are currently in development.
Included in this new Fiber Plan are a new set of high-powered FTTH ONU router, two Asus Zen Wi-Fi devices, and CAT6A or CAT7 LAN cable for you to maximize your 10,000Mbps bandwidth. The mesh system can cover over 550 square meters.
PLDT Home is piloting its 10,000Mbps service in Metro Manila this month and will then implement further expansions in other key cities outside Metro Manila like Cebu and Davao next year. According to the PLDT Home 10,000Mbps site, the price of the plan is available upon request.
