Taiwan has recently extended its visa-free privilege offer to Filipino travelers for another year. Following its previous announcement of visa-free travel until July 31, 2019, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on July 2 that Filipinos can still enter the country without visa from August 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020.
This latest announcement comes on the heels of a recent Taiwan tourism event held in Manila where Filipino YouTube star Mikey Bustos released his new song “Undiscovered Taipei.” In its accompanying music video, Bustos lists down things you can do with your parents in Taipei:
Among them is visiting the famous Beitou Hot Springs, the scenic mountains of Xiaoyukeng, or bask in the beauty of hydrangea fields in Yangmingshan. Of course, a food tour is always in order when traveling to Taipei. Not to miss are the Taiwan-style omelet and fresh milk tea combo at Taipei’s bestselling breakfast shop Zhenfang, the Sichuan-styled beef dried noodle at spicy hotpot chain Mantanghung, and Taipei’s must-buy souvenir BRAVO!BEAR mango shortcake by leading pastry maker Kuo Yuan Ye.
Yi-ting Liu, commissioner of Taipei City’s Department of Information and Tourism, says the decision to invite Mikey again is based on the success of his song “My New Crushie.” Many netizens expressed their interest to see Mikey produce a new video, which has been fulfilled by the said government agency. Filipino tourists are encouraged to visit Taipei again and try something they have never experienced before.
“Here’s the deal!,” Liu beamed at the launch event, “Feel free to share and forward the video as we’ll offer a free air ticket from the Philippines to Taiwan when the music video collects over 300,000 views.”
