Pinoy actor to host Nickelodeon’s new Blue’s Clues

Time to get your handy dandy notebooks out because Blue is coming back, and she’s got a new stripe-wearing pal.

Meet Joshua Dela Cruz, a Filipino Broadway actor who’ll be filling in for long-time host Steve Burns in the new Nickelodeon reboot called Blue’s Clues and You.

The 30-year-old theater geek is slated to star in all 20 episodes of the show. Before bagging the role as Blue’s partner, the Pinoy acted for Broadway’s Aladdin adaptation.

What about Steve?

Having a hard time imagining Blue’s Clues without Steve Burns? Don’t worry, Josh has the original host’s stamp of approval.

“I had the great honor of being a part of the search for the new host, and I give Josh two thumbs up! He can definitely fill my shoes, and the rugby shirt,” Steve shared with Huffington Post.

“I know that they saw thousands and thousands of people. And when we saw Josh, I turned to everyone and said we can start filming tomorrow. He was phenomenal from day one.”

The Filipino actor also shared that he used to watch the show with his little sister at their aunt’s house. “I remember Blue’s Clues encapsulated everything that I love: curiosity, the adventure of going to new places, skiddooing into a picture, exercising your imagination, being able to sing and dance and be silly, and then to draw on top of that, it was magic for somebody that wasn’t supposed to be watching the show,” Josh said.

We can’t wait to see Josh and all of our favorite Blue’s Clues characters return for Blues Clues and You.

Airing from 1996 to 2006, the Nickelodeon show Blue’s Clues followed the pawprints of animated dog Blue as she left clues around to lead Steve and the audience to different adventures.
