A new era has begun for Peugeot in the Philippines. The French automaker is now distributed by Astara—formerly known as Bergé Auto—one of the biggest automotive distributors in Europe and Latin America.
The takeover marks the partnership of Astara and Stellantis, one of the leading global automakers where the Peugeot brand is housed. It also ushers in Astara’s expansion in Asia, starting in the Philippines.
“Having just celebrated our tenth anniversary in the Philippines, we are energized to continue building our momentum in the country through our great vehicles and after-sales service offerings with Astara as our partner,” Peugeot Philippines brand head Maricar Parco said.
To bring the brand closer to more Filipinos nationwide, Peugeot Philippines aims to open seven more dealerships, in addition to the current four branches.
For its initial product salvo, Peugeot plans to introduce four vehicles, led by the new 5008 seven-seater SUV.
The seven-seater SUV is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine (165hp and 240Nm) mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
This Malaysia-made SUV features a frameless grille with black side scoops, full LED headlight with “illuminated fangs” daytime running lights, full LED taillights, sequential turn signals, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Peugeot 5008 gets the brand’s new-generation i-Cockpit concept.
The SUV is also equipped with a multitude of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including active blind spot detection, lane keeping assistance, and driver attention alert.
Priced at P2,260,000, the Peugeot 5008 is available in Emerald Crystal, Nera Black, Pearl White, and Amazonite Gray.
