As the gig economy becomes more prominent in the Philippines, PayPal continues to find ways to help freelancers have easier and more convenient transactions. In line with this, the company launched the Philippines results from its Global Freelancer Insights Report, which looks into the needs and challenges of freelancers in 22 markets worldwide.
The study surveyed over 500 freelancers and considerers in the Philippines. It shows great potential for growth and success of freelancers in the country with their optimistic values and perseverance.
The report also sees freelancing as an attractive career option for the growing millennial population in the Philippines. These current and would-be freelancers consider the flexible working hours and ability to be their own boss as great benefits. Majority of these individuals work in the data entry/internet research, virtual assistance, and customer service category.
However, the study also reveals that despite the growing freelance market, freelancers are still facing uncertainties like irregular income and not being paid by commissioners.
“The fear of income irregularities should not pose as a barrier for considerers to pursue their freelancing aspirations,” said Mr. Abhinav Kumar. “PayPal.Me for Business and our dedicated PayPal Merchant App are some of the solutions PayPal has delivered to provide Freelancers a fast, secure and more convenient way to move and control their money.”
With PayPal’s approach to easier payment methods, freelancers are left with the convenience and motivation to pursue their goals and work more.
