League of Legends (LoL) developer Riot Games has named OPPO as its official smartphone partner for its different international esports events.
The multi-year partnership spans from 2019 until 2024, covering events like the World Championship, the Mid-Season Invitational, and the All-Star Event. The World Championship kicked off on October 2 in Berlin, Germany, and will conclude on November 10 in Paris.
This groundbreaking partnership marks OPPO’s entry into esports, further diversifying the company’s expanding portfolio.
“This is a great move for Riot and OPPO,” said Brian Shen, OPPO Vice President and President of Global Marketing. “The partnership will allow us to continue to strengthen our bond with the young as we join them in celebrating the victory of each game.”
LoL joins OPPO’s roster of sport partners, which includes Wimbledon, FC Barcelona, and the International Cricket Council. This collaboration also puts the tech brand at the center of the burgeoning global esports market. The tech giant joins LoL esports’ other partners like Mastercard, State Farm, Alienware, Secretlab, and Louis Vuitton.
Through this partnership, LoL aims to enhance fans’ viewing experience around global sporting events. In turn, OPPO will have year-round activations focusing on the global tournaments.
Starting with the 2019 World Championship, OPPO will bring fans closer through these fun activations:
- MVP Presented by OPPO, where the brand will celebrate the most winning performance for the most critical matches of the season.
- OPPO Cam will show broadcasts of the World Championships, gathering fans in one space to watch the live event.
- Welcome to the Rift will spotlight the teams, allowing fans a look at the next LoL prodigies, underdogs, and more.
