OPPO breaks ground on new Chang’an R&D center
To boost Research and Development capabilities, OPPO is establishing a new center in China’s Chang’an Town, Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The new facilities, together with the company’s existing R&D centers, will form a robust research engine that will power OPPO’s continued innovations.
The new center, said to cost over P75 billion, is expected to house 5,000 R&D personnel after completion.
As a global R&D engine for the company, the new Chang’an center will design and test a vast range of smart devices. Among these are smartphones and IoT products. The center will also support OPPO’s mission of providing cutting-edge smart devices and services for the era of intelligent connectivity.
An architectural rendering of the new center shows that it will cover roughly 82,000 square meters and will consist of 10 all-glass towers. The buildings will consist of offices, a talent development center, an R&D center, a mobile internet research center, and a testing center. In addition, the landmark office tower, upon completion, will represent a spectacular fixture of Dongguan’s skyline.
The center is designed by top global architecture firm Kohn Penderson Fox Associates in partnership with dozens of professional consultants.
