3 cool tech innovations to expect from CES 2019

Calling all the tech fans out there! CES 2019 is here and we can’t wait to sink our teeth into the latest news on gadgets, technology, and cars.

For those of you who aren’t aware, CES is the biggest annual consumer tech show held in Las Vegas, Nevada gathering all the biggest names in the industry. The showcase will take place on January 8 to 11, but news on innovative smartphones, TVs, cars, laptops, smart homes and virtual assistants, and more have already been buzzing since the weekend.

Here’s a glimpse of what we can expect from CES 2019:

8K OLED TVs that roll up?

Expect to see big players like Samsung, Hisense, and Panasonic to grace the showrooms with their latest advances in TVs. We’re expecting to see 8K resolution TVs from these tech giants as well as more OLED screens, HDMI 2.1, and AI capabilities. Word is we’ll see more of LG’s rollable OLED TV which will be available to the market in 2019.

Smarter smartphones

While notch displays and almost bevel-less design defined 2018 for smartphones, we can expect CES 2019 to bring about phones with 5G capabilities. 5G has been in talks since 2018 but we have yet seen it in action, so maybe 2019 will be the year for 5G.

Another smartphone innovation we can expect to see from CES is foldable phones. Samsung has already teased their foldable Galaxy F last November 2018 so maybe we can expect to see other smartphone makers, like LG, do the same in CES 2019.

AI everywhere

Our tech has brought us smart cars and smart homes. Will smart toilets be next? Yes it is. Expect to see your everyday home appliances become infused with artificial intelligence (either Alexa or Google Assistant, probably). In addition to that, expect to read news on self-driving smart cars this CES week.

Select press conferences, exhibits, and keynotes from leaders and more from CES 2019 can be streamed online. If you don’t want to miss out on the latest tech news, just tune in to Speed Magazine’s website and social media pages.
