New iPad Pro gets trackpad support, dual cameras

Apple has announced the iPad Pro 2020 version featuring a new processor, dual rear cameras, and Magic Keyboard and trackpad support.

The new iPad comes in 11- and 12.9-inch models, which have similar specs save for the screen size, resolution, and battery capacity.

Powering the iPad is an A12Z Bionic Chip, with eight cores in the GPU. Apple says the processor is “faster and more powerful than most Windows PC laptops.” The company also touts the new model’s capability to tackle demanding tasks such as video editing, designing 3D models, and more.

With the new chip comes a new camera system that looks a lot like those on the iPhone 11 Pro. The array consists of a 12MP wide camera and a 10MP ultra wide lens with capabilities to record 4K video. It also has a LiDAR scanner, which can be used to measure distance to surrounding objects up to five meters away.

One of the new features on this iPad is support for what Apple calls its Magic Keyboard, which unfolds to elevate the tablet. The setup kind of looks like a desktop and the keyboard cover even has a trackpad on it.

For the first time, iPadOS 13.4 brings trackpad support, which makes using cursors more natural. Moreover, it adds precisions to tasks such as writing and selecting text and working with spreadsheets. The cursor will appear as a circle on the tablet’s screen.

The iPad Pro (2020) comes in silver and gray colors, with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The 11-inch model starts at P47,990, while the 12.9-inch model starts at P59,990.
