The Supra has made a grand comeback. After a 17-year hiatus, Toyota’s flagship sports car is back and is now available in the country through 16 Toyota GR Performance dealerships. Following a special teaser at the Vios Racing Festival, the all-new Toyota Supra was unveiled at a launch event at the posh Manila Polo Club.
The fifth-generation Supra is the first global Toyota Gazoo Racing model. All units are being manufactured at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria.
Toyota Gazoo Racing, or GR, is Toyota’s performance development arm, which aims to produce “ever better cars” through motorsports. True to its Japanese design, which hailed from grand tourers like the A40 to the futuristic concept car FT-1, the new Toyota GR Supra is ready to be tested in the country’s racetracks.

The Philippine variant of the all-new Supra is powered by a twin-scroll turbocharged, in-line six-cylinder engine that produces a maximum output of 335hp and 500Nm of torque. The 3.0L mill is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The chassis and body frame are built with 50:50 front-rear weight distribution, conducive to quality cornering performance. The new GR Supra also has a wheelbase-to-tread ratio of 1.55, aiding its turning and responsiveness.
The car comes with Adaptive Variable Suspension. Its front wheels are equipped with double-joint type MacPherson strut, while the rear wheels come with multi-link suspension. A high body rigidity, low center of gravity, and aerodynamics combine to give the vehicle speed and precision.
The interior comes in black with muted carbon accents, giving it a sleek, fashionable look. The Alcantara sports seats are equipped with lumbar support and eight-way power memory adjust, while the three-spoke leather steering wheel has both manual tilt and telescopic adjust for quality ergonomics.
Aiming for millimeter driving precision, the new GR Supra has a narrow-sectioned dashboard that offers expansive forward visibility. The vehicle assists its user in focusing on the road through an advanced Heads Up Display (HUD) with responsive Paddle Shifters, as well as an 8.8-inch TFT-LCD Multi Information Display gauge.
