Marvel teases Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals crossover for 2022

Marvel Entertainment has dropped a new teaser hinting at a crossover among the studios’ most powerful players: Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals.

The clip, released on Marvel’s social media pages on Dec. 28, shows the logos of the three superteams along with the text, “Judgment Day is coming” and “Summer 2022,” which suggests the date of the crossover event.

While not much can be seen in the teaser, reports suggest that this crossover event could be a huge, not to mention star-studded battle among Marvel’s mightiest heroes.

It can be noted that on December 10, Marvel announced it is celebrating Free Comic Book Day 2022 with three titles. One of these is Avengers/X-Men #1 which has a storyline that “drastically alters the relationship between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and mutantkind.”

The comic was published on April 4, 2012 and later proved to be a major commercial success. Marvel also said that the comic “will lay the groundwork for an event that will erupt across the Marvel Universe in 2022.”

Ten days later, on December 20, the studio revealed it is launching Eternals #10 on March 9, 2022. Dubbed by Marvel as “the biggest Marvel Comics storyline of 2022,” Eternals #10 pits the god-like beings against the Avengers. It will be launched by writer Kieron Gillen alongside artist Esad Ribic.

The Eternals comic book series was originally created by Jack Kirby way back 1976. It wasn’t until August 2020 that Marvel tapped Gillen and Ribic to revive the series.

In a previous interview with ComicBook, Gillen said that he created his own run of Eternals in a way that it would touch many other parts of the Marvel Universe.

“For me, it’s the ideal mix of huge and contained. It’s touching some of the most important players and pieces in the Marvel universe (and so clearly is going to echo out) while also being entirely its own book, a singular compelling statement. The opening year is an epic, and the aim is to be classic,” he said.

While Marvel has yet to confirm whether Judgment Day would be a face-off among the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals in the comics, it sure is one of Marvel’s most exciting events in 2022.
