Minor spoilers ahead!
The finale of Loki has undoubtedly sent fans to a multiverse of questions. And while we all scramble through the web for theories, answers, and whatnot, Marvel and Disney hinted that all these won’t go unanswered.
The announcement, first spotted by Variety, comes as a mid-credit scene at the 42 minute and 48 second mark. It shows a zoom shot of the God of Mischief’s TVA case file stamped with “Loki will return in season 2.”
No other details were revealed, but reports say that Tom Hiddleston is also reprising his role as Loki—and continue living out the trickster god’s “glorious purpose”—in Sam Raimi’s film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is due on March 25, 2022.
The Benedict Cumberbatch-led sequel will also star Elizabeth Olsen, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for her remarkable portrayal of Scarlet Witch in WandaVision.
Loki is the third Marvel series to have premiered on Disney+, next to WandaVision, which premiered in January, and Falcon and The Winter Soldier that debuted in March this year.
It is also the first MCU Disney+ show to be renewed for a second season (so far). Last month, Olsen confirmed that WandaVision is “definitely a limited series” not intended to have a season 2.
