Logitech G913 TKL review: A worthwhile investment

Wireless has been the name of the game for the past few years now. Why settle for annoying wires when you can experience the full potential and freedom of wireless technology?

But the wireless game has not been smooth-sailing. Many people find the constant need to charge annoying and the unstable connections a hassle. And for gamers, latency matters a lot.

Thankfully, this is the space where Logitech truly shines. With the brand’s Lightspeed technology making serious advancements even in the pro gaming arena, you know that your Logitech wireless peripherals won’t give you a headache.

For us, the Logitech G913 TKL mechanical keyboard is the breakout star of this year’s Lightspeed lineup. An upgrade from the G813, the Logitech G913 TKL’s Lightspeed wireless technology is second to none, promising the smoothest and lowest latency experience when it comes to hardcore typing needs and gaming.

All the basics—but better

We all want different things from a mechanical keyboard. Maybe you’re the type of person who likes them keys clicky, or you’re the type of person who likes to configure shortcuts for an easier life. What we love about the Logitech G913 TKL mechanical keyboard is that if you have no patience to build your own mechanical keyboard, you’ll find everything you need in this one.

Just like other mechanical keyboards, it comes with three different switches depending on your preference (GL tactile, linear, and clicky). It also has RGB backlights that gamers are gaga about, and you can program the lights effortlessly with the Logitech G Hub. It has programmable macros, which are built into the function keys, and gaming mode for when you need a different configuration (e.g. turning off some keys so you don’t accidentally press on them) when you’re playing.

It’s also worth noting that the G913 TKL has a terrific battery life. You can use it for 40 hours straight with just a three-hour charge—and yes, no worries because you can keep using it while charging.

Compact, but premium

The Logitech G913 TKL is definitely made for sophisticated tastes. Its sleek brushed aluminum case and ultra-thin design is such a premium addition to any gaming or work space. I’m definitely not going back to plastic casing after getting spoiled by this keyboard. It’s also worth noting that it’s impossibly thin, but still has a good weight to it, which we also love.

TKL or tenkeyless keyboards are becoming very popular among gamers and mechanical keyboard enthusiasts because they’re compact (which is great for a tight desk space) and have a shorter throw distance to the mouse. If you’re not using the numpad anyway, why not get rid of it to get extra room on your table?

The G913 TKL also features low-profile keys, which look more premium and feel easier on the wrist.

Upgrades that matter

The new features on the G913 TKL are definitely a welcome upgrade from its predecessor, the Logitech G813. The dedicated media controls are a hit when you like watching videos, and the Lightspeed wireless upgrade is just a God-send for gamers who need to set up their laptops every before and after use.

Another premium feature in the Logitech G913 TKL is its dual connect capabilities. It can connect to two separate devices—one through Lightspeed and the other via Bluetooth—so you can switch with ease when you need to. How smooth is the shift, you ask? Literally a press on the Bluetooth or Lightspeed buttons on the keyboard is all it takes.

Speed says

On the downside, the G913 TKL has proprietary Logitech keycaps so you can’t go customizing this keyboard like other mechanical keyboards. Then again, why would you if it already looks amazing as is? It also has quite a premium price at P12,990, which may be a bit steep for some.

But overall, we’ve got to say that the Logitech G913 TKL mechanical keyboard is worth every peso. To be honest, it’s challenging to find a mechanical keyboard that suits your lifestyle and play-style, especially if you’re looking for a wireless one. Logitech has made it easy for you with the G913. So, if you’re looking for a solid and compact wireless mechanical keyboard, the Logitech G913 TKL is definitely a most worthwhile investment to make.
