LG’s new 9.1.5-channel soundbar comes with five up-firing speakers

Apart from the DualUp double-height monitor and StanbyME portable TV, LG has introduced a series of audio products at the CES 2022. While all these offer stylish designs and enhanced sound experiences, the South Korean giant’s new flagship 9.1.5-channel soundbar, dubbed LG S95QR, proved to be its most innovative yet.

LG S95QR boasts five up-firing channels, with three on the left, right, and center of the soundbar and two in the separate rear speakers. The center up-firing speaker is what LG claims to be the first of its kind, and it is designed to deliver clearer dialogue and make Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content even more immersive.

This is complemented with the boosted performance from its larger woofers that deliver a more premium audio quality with deep, resonant bass emulating the immersive sound system of a cinema.

Its wireless rear speakers, meanwhile, were upgraded from four channels to six, with four front/side drivers to accompany the two up-firing drivers.

With Meridian Audio’s Horizon technology in Music Mode, the soundbar can up-mix two channel audio to 7.1-channels for more realistic acoustic surround sound. Its variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM) eliminates drops or lags in audio output for a more in-sync onscreen action.

With enhanced AI Room Calibration, LG S95QR can tailor its sound output to any given space by analyzing the dimensions of the room.

In addition, connecting the soundbar to your smart device allows you to effortlessly control streaming music, adjust volume, and change sound modes using only your voice.

When connected to a compatible LG TV, LG Soundbar takes advantage of the TV’s advanced AI Sound Pro feature to make all content sound clearer and more lifelike. Cross-compatibility allows you to use one remote to control both your LG TV and the soundbar.

LG has yet to announce the pricing and availability of the flagship soundbar so stay tuned.
