Huawei’s newest entry-level smartphone, the Huawei Y6s, comes with a friendly P6,990 price tag. This budget-friendly device promises capable performance that will make it worth every cent.
We got our hands on the Huawei Y6s and here are our thoughts so far:
The Huawei Y6s sports an on-trend design. Our review unit came in Starry Black and as its name suggests, it shimmers when light hits the rear. The phone is also notably light and easy to carry around.
In front, a minimal waterdrop notch interrupts the 6.09-inch display. The screen is big enough for your typical social media use, Web browsing, and watching videos on YouTube.
Running on Android 9 with EMUI 9.1, the phone’s layout is simple and easy-to-use. The OS looks pretty neat and sleek. It also provides an option to show all the apps in the home screen or to organize them in an app drawer.
On this budget phone is a single 13MP camera on the rear and an 8MP shooter in front. It’s good enough if you just take photos casually to post on social media. Camera settings include Pro Mode, Panorama, and HDR.
As for its performance, the smartphone packs enough power to handle games like Mobile Legends thanks to an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 that is produced on a 12nm process. This promises improved performance and power efficiency. The Y6s is also equipped with Huawei SuperSound for louder sound.
The security features on the Huawei Y6s are also noteworthy. It’s not every day that you get both a fingerprint scanner and facial recognition on a budget phone.
Don’t let its friendly price fool you. For P6,990, the Huawei Y6s performs pretty well. It’s adequate for watching videos, a bit of gaming, and casual social media browsing.
