Huawei intros kid-friendly MatePad, smartwatch


Huawei Philippines has launched two new devices made for kids.

First up is the Huawei MatePad T 8 Kids Edition, which is designed with the education and healthy development of children ages 3 to 8 in mind. The 8-inch tablet comes with a special anti-shock Kids Case made from environmentally safe silicone. It offering all-around protection for both the device and your child. The case has a blue shell and cute green grips that double as a support stand.

The slate also comes with a stylus pen and a Kids Corner app that’s pre-loaded with child-friendly content. Other features include low blue light certification, a built-in gravity sensor that prompts children to adjust their posture, and an ebook mood to give children a paper-like reading experience.

Parents can also set up the tablet so that their child can only use it for a certain amount of time, say a maximum of 30 minutes after school.

The Huawei MatePad T8 Kids edition is equipped with a MediaTek MT8768 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage (expandable up to 512GB via microSD). It sports a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

The Huawei MatePad T 8 Kids Edition is priced at P8,999. If you buy it from the online Huawei store anytime between September 24 and October 1, you’ll get the following freebies:

Meanwhile, the Huawei Watch Kids 4 Pro is designed to keep kids safe and healthy.

The 5MP camera at the top of the watch’s screen supports HD video calls using Huawei MeeTime. Kids can make HD video or voice calls on the watch with loved ones who own Huawei devices.

What’s more, Huawei’s self-developed network positioning services intelligently obtain the optimal location accuracy and accurately record your kid’s location every 120 seconds. Parents will receive notifications when their kids leave or enter the designated Safe Zone. There’s also strict data encryption and privacy protection for them.

The wearable has a 5ATM water-resistant design as well as a counting feature and a one-minute activity challenge for skipping rope, free skipping rope, and sit-ups. In addition, the smartwatch can track users’ steps and provide a ranking, which is helpful for kids to challenge themselves when they exercise.

Huawei hasn’t announced the price and availability of the Watch Kids 4 Pro yet.
