How to turn on dark mode in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides

Do you spend a lot of time using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for work or school? Make using these productivity apps easier on your eye by turning on dark mode. The three Google apps are getting a dark mode theme for Android, which will also save your phone’s battery life.

The apps will automatically use your system theme, so if your device has dark mode already turned on, the new theme will be enabled. You can also turn the theme on manually by going into each app’s setting:

First, open Sheets, Docs, or Slides. Tap on the menu bottom in the top left corner. Go to Settings> Choose Theme. Then select Dark, Light, or System default.

Once you’re in dark mode and you want to see how your document will look like in the traditional light mode, open the file. Then tap on the three dots on the top-right corner and select View in light theme. The app will give you a quick preview of your file without you needing to go to settings and change themes again.
