How to register your business online via BIR’s NewBizReg portal

Whether you’re a long-time entrepreneur or just about to open a new shop, it is important to keep in mind that registering your business in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is key for smooth and secure operations.

Aware of the struggles entrepreneurs go through to register their businesses, especially during the pandemic, BIR has launched an online registration platform known as the New Business Registration (NewBizReg) portal

With this portal, business owners like you can submit their application for business registration to their designated BIR Revenue District Office (RDO) with less hassle. All you have to do is prepare the requirements, email your application form, pay the required fees via partner electronic payment channels, and you’re good to go.

In this article, we are giving you a step-by-step guide on the NewBizReg application process.

Step 1: Prepare the requirements

For sole proprietors, professionals, and mixed-income earners: 

  • BIR Form No. 1901 version January 2018
  • Government-issued ID
  • Clear sample of principal receipt invoices or a BIR printed receipt or invoice, which you can also purchase at BIR’s New Business Registrant Counter.
  • P500 for the registration fee and P30 for the loose stamp for the Certificate of Registration

If transacting through a representative:

  • Government-issued ID of the authorized representative 
  • Special Power of Attorney (SPA)

Additional documents:

  • DTI certificate 
  • Work visa for foreign nationals
  • Franchise documents
  • Proof of registration or permit to operate
  • Franchise documents
  • Death certificate of the deceased
  • Trust Agreement
  • Certificate of Authority, if Barangay Micro Business Enterprises-registered entity

Step 2: Download and answer the application form

a. Go to www.bir.gov.ph then browse and click  “Use BIR eServices”

b. Click “Other eServices” then scroll down and choose the NewBizReg icon.

c. Download the Tax Type Questionnaire, print it, and fill out all required fields.

Step 3: Payment of fees

Pay the P500 registration fee and P30 Loose Documentary Stamp Tax through any of BIR’s e-payment channels: Landbank, Development Bank of the Philippines, Unionbank, PesoNet, Gcash, or Paymaya.

Step 4: Submit your application

  • Go back to the NewBizReg portal, then look for the email address and subject of application of the designated RDO in your area. 
  • Click the “Email Your Application” button to compose your email. 
  • A new window will pop up where you must attach all the required documents and send it to the email address specified on the receipient field.
  • Wait for your acknowledgment receipt, and your application will be processed by the BIR RDO within three working days.

Step 5: Claim your certificate

Wait for an email specifying the pick-up schedule of your Certificate of Registration, then head to the nearest BIR office during your designated schedule.
