As more people are turning to video chats during the quarantine, Facebook introduced a new group video chat feature that can host calls with up to 50 people. Called Messenger Rooms, this competes with the likes of Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, and more.
On Messenger Rooms, you can create a video chat room and invite other users and even others without Facebook accounts. Furthermore, there are no time limits on these calls.
To start Room on your mobile phone, open the Messenger app. Then go to the People tab at the bottom right of the screen. Tap on Create a Room and share the link to the room to invite people to the video chat. You can choose whether you want to limit the call only to Facebook users, too.
On your web browser or desktop, go to Facebook and click on the Messenger icon to drop down the list of all your chats then click on See all in Messenger at the bottom left.
Once you’re redirected to the Messenger site, click on the Create new Room icon next to Settings by the top left.
Tap on the See call participants icon and copy the invite code to add people to the chat.
