Are you a Jedi or a Sith? Will you be joining the Light or the Dark? It’s time to choose your side. And what better way to state your pick than having Star Wars-themed Google apps. Ahead of the forthcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Google teamed up with Lucasfilm and Disney to create a new tool that lets you customize the appearance of its suite of apps with Star Wars themes, based on your preference. Go to https://www.google.com/starwars/, where you will be greeted with a close-up of new Force Awakens characters Rey and Kylo Ren, wielding their weapon of choice. The site will ask you to choose between the “Light Side” and “Dark Side.” Once you’ve made your pick, your Google apps—Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Chrome, Docs, Drive, Sheets, etc.—will get a new face that reflects your chosen side. The themes will apply to all your apps across your devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, and Chromebook, except for for Chrome, Gmail, and YouTube, which will only work on the desktop. Google also rolled out additional Star Wars experiences on Waze, Android Wear watch, and Google Translate, so you better check them out. The tech giant will also be launching more experiences, such as virtual reality on Google Cardboard and a Chrome Experiment, before the film release.
