Investing in education is an investment in the future. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to go to school.
As part of the year-long celebration of its 90th anniversary, Prestone, a brand known globally for its brake fluid, motor oil, and coolant, launched a scholarship program to help its silent partners—the local auto mechanics—give their children the gift of education.
The Anak ng Mekaniko Scholarship Program aims to support the automotive repair and maintenance services sector by providing free college education to deserving children of auto mechanics.
“Prestone values the contribution made by auto mechanics to the brand’s success. After nearly a century of milestones, we hope that this program will add to Prestone’s many firsts,” said Paulo Lao, sales and marketing director of Prestone. “All of these will not be possible without the support of the loyal Prestone users, especially the local auto mechanics, who journeyed with us in our feat to ensuring and maintaining safety and security for drivers and their vehicles.”
The Anak ng Mekaniko Scholarship Program is open to all high school graduates, graduating senior high school students, passers of Alternative Learning System (ALS) or Philippine Education Placement Test, as well as those individuals who want to go back to complete their college education.
A total of nine deserving students from all over the Philippines will be selected and will be given a four-year scholarship grant to a bachelor course of their choice in any STI Colleges branch. Aside from tuition, the grant includes stipends, as well as books and uniform allowance.
“Filipinos consider education as a symbol of wealth that they can bequeath to their children. As such, we want to inspire and give hope to nine deserving ANAK NG MEKANIKO scholars, who will be chosen from across the country,” added Monique Gonzales, Brand Manager of PRESTONE®.
The search will run until February 15, 2018. The nine scholars will be announced in April 2018.
