For fans who were disappointed with Game of Thrones Season 8 we say, there is hope. The beloved series is getting a spinoff series called House of the Dragon.

The prequel will tell the tale of the Targaryens, Daenerys’ ancestors. Helming the series are Ryan Condal as writer and George R.R. Martin himself as co-executive producer. This upcoming show will be based on Martin’s Fire and Blood book, which hit shelves in 2019. The 10-episode series takes place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. No word yet, though, when House of the Dragon is expected to air.

House of the Dragon will join HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max, alongside Rick and Morty, Adventure Time Distant Lands, Doctor Who, Friends, Westworld, Succession, and more.

HBO Max is set to rival Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming services.
