Before the enhanced community quarantine was imposed last March, Ford Philippines sent out invitations to members of the media for a launch event of a new Everest variant. Alas, the event was postponed.
But times are a-changin’—and thanks to technology, Ford was able to make history with the first-ever virtual car launch in the Philippines. The Blue Oval company introduced the 2020 Ford Everest Sport via Zoom.
Enhanced design, loaded with driver-assist tech
The new Everest Sport is powered by a familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine (178hp and 420Nm) mated to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift.
The 2020 Everest Sport comes with black body exterior accents such as a new mesh grille design, an embossed EVEREST hood badge at the front, gloss black painted wheels and exterior mirrors on the side, black tailgate applique in the rear, and a ‘SPORT’ decal on the liftgate. This sporty SUV comes equipped with LED projector headlamps and daytime running lights.
Inside, the new variant distinguishes itself from the rest of the Everest lineup with its unique blue stitching accent around the steering wheel, dashboard, seats, center, console, and door trims.
It’s equipped with SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10 speakers, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, smart keyless entry with push button start, and a power liftgate with hands-free function.
This seven-seater also comes with cruise control, seven airbags, rear view camera and parking sensors, and roll stability control, among other safety and driver-assistance features.
The Everest Sport is available in four colors: Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Arctic White, and Deep Crystal Blue.
The 2020 Everest Sport can be had for P1,868,000 and is now available in all Ford dealerships nationwide. Customers who will reserve the new Everest Sport on or before May 31, 2020 will get a free 3-year scheduled service plan.
