Take a trip down memory lane of great OPM with the Marshall II collection

Ah, Pinoy music! It clearly has its way to bring out memories–good or bad–and make us feel something again. Original Pinoy Music are close to our hearts not only because we love our own, but because the songs reflect and relate to our everyday life as Filipinos. We’re pretty sure you still listen from time to to time to your high school barkada‘s favorite Pinoy rock songs, and that you still feel kilig (or bitter) when you hear that OPM love song dedicated to you by an ex-flame.

Marshall celebrated Original Pinoy Music with the launch of the Marshall II collection last November 13 at Digital Walker One Boni. A true rock legend itself, Marshall highlighted its second-generation devices by taking a tour down memory lane of Pinoy rock history.

Let’s look back at the greatest Filipino bands of the yesteryear and their music, and check out the new Marshall speaker and headphones collection:

’60s

Formed in 1968, Juan Dela Cruz Band pioneered what became known as Pinoy rock. They headlined the first open field rock festival in the Philippines. Some of their songs that really marked are Beep BeepBalong MalalimNo Touch, Himig Natin, and Titser’s Enemi No. 1.

Marshall Acton II Bluetooth

Rock with the Juan Dela Cruz band with the Marshall Acton II Bluetooth (P17,490), the smallest speaker in the Marshall line-up. But don’t let its size fool you. It is a dynamic compact speaker featuring three dedicated class D amplifiers that power its dual tweeters and subwoofers for a sound that’s well-balanced and powerful.

’70s

Who didn’t sing along with any of APO Hiking Society‘s songs during the ’70s? From the nostalgic Awit ng Barkada, Batang-bata Ka Pa, and Saan Na Nga Ba’ng Barkada to the love-filled Panalangin, Ewan, and Pumapatak Ang Ulan, even the playful Mahirap Magmahal ng Syota ng Iba, APO’s music became the theme song of the generation then and beyond.

Marshall Woburn II Bluetooth

The Marshall Woburn II Bluetooth (P34,990)–the largest speaker from Marshall–makes the perfect device to jam with APO’s music. It is designed to deliver a robust sound, hit high trebles cleanly, handle low bass with ease, and have a clear midrange. It’s two tweeters and dual 5.25” subwoofers are powered by class D amps for a total of 110 watts of power.

’80s

Originally known as Salt of the Eartch, Asin is a Pinoy folk rock band known for being the first to incorporate Filipino indigenous instruments into pop/rock music. Their popular titles include Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran, Ang Bayan Kong Sinilangan, and Itanong Mo Sa Mga Bata.

Marshall Kilburn II

A portable speaker with multi-directional Blumlein Stereo sound, the Marshall Kilburn II (P20,990) makes listening to Asin songs a special experience. This speaker allows you to immerse in sound indoors, outdoors, or via Bluetooth with over 20 hours of portable playtime.

’90s

Eraserheads arguably ruled the ’90s. During this period, the band became one of the most successful, most influential, critically acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Philippine music. The band released several singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one and achieved commercial success with their third album Cutterpillow, which achieved platinum status several times.

Marshall Stanmore II Bluetooth

The Marshall Stanmore II Bluetooth (P24,990), the most versatile speaker in the Marshall line-up, is the best device to play your favorite Eraserheads songs (read: all of them). It is suitable for any room, big or small, and delivers the Marshall promise of high-performance sound. It has advanced components featuring two 15-watt class D amplifiers to power its tweeters and a 50-watt class D amplifier for its subwoofer.

’00s

Known for their novelty songs and satirical covers, Parokya ni Edgar dominated the year 2000 and beyond. And up until today, the band remain popular among Pinoy listeners–old and young–and continues to play gigs all over the country.

Marshall III Bluetooth
