Startup DITO Telecommunity is set for its commercial launch this March 8 after successfully passing its first network audit.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said on Monday that Dito met its initial population coverage and minimum average internet speed commitments.
The telco startup yielded a national population coverage of 37.48% with minimum average speeds of 85.9Mbps for 4G and 507.5Mbps for 5G.
Dito will first launch in Davao and Cebu to honor its company’s origins. The company was formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. or Mislatel.
Its services will reach 17 cities and municipalities with 10 to 20 points of sale, as well as online, in Mindanao and Visayas. NCR rollout will begin later in the year.
In addition, DITO has forged an agreement with PLDT for the construction of a transmission facility to interconnect their subscribers.
