In 2002, Louis Vuitton marked its entry into the world of watchmaking with the Tambour watch. Twenty years later, the luxury brand launches a new ticker that’s more in line with the times.
The Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up, the brand’s third-generation smartwatch, is available in three versions: Polished Steel, Matte Black, and Matte Brown.
It has a 1.2-inch circular display crafted from sapphire glass, which lights up when a notification arrives thanks to 24 LED lights that adorn the so-called Monogram dial ring.
This luxurious wristwear comes with eight built-in dial configurations available at launch—including a striped animation (a nod to Louis Vuitton’s early trunks) and a dial that features Vivienne, the Maison’s mascot. LV says they will release more in the coming months. You can also configure the colors and even add your own initials, with your choice of shade and typeface.
The Tambour is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor and runs a custom-designed operating system. It comes with a heart rate monitor, microphone, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor.
One of its more interesting features include a ‘My Travel’ function that lets you easily access travel plans, boarding passes, and hotel reservations, or explore Louis Vuitton’s iconic City Guides directly from the watch. Swipe down and you’ll get to the ‘My Day’ screen, which will show today’s agenda, the weather, step count, and air quality.
There’s no word yet when it’s going to be available locally, but in Singapore, the wearable is already available for the following prices:
- Stainless Steel – SG$4,850 (or around P185,000)
- Matte Black / Matte Brown – SG$5,850 (or around P223,000)
