GAC Motor Philippines has taken the wraps off the refreshed model of its flagship SUV—the GS8—now equipped with more tech and safety features and looking more robust than ever.
While it has retained the dimensions of its predecessor, the 2022 GS8 sports exterior upgrades such as larger intake vents with chrome trim on the front bumper, a new front skidplate in a silver finish to enhance its muscular look. The rear also has a silver finished skid plate.
Inside, a mix of piano-black and wood trim adorns the dashboard and door panels. There’s also a 10-inch LED display with Apple CarPlay as well as six Harman Kardon speakers. There are USB ports and a wireless charging pad, 10 cupholders, LED mood lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
The seats are wrapped in Alcantara leather, and the heated and ventilated front seats come with adjustable lumbar support and memory function. Second-row passengers benefit from seats with lumbar support, a separate A/C controller, and a 5-volt USB port and electric outlet.
Meanwhile, the third-row seats can be folded flat so you can carry more cargo.
When it comes to safety and convenience, the GS8 has plenty to offer: anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control system, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, fingerprint sensor door lock, tire pressure monitoring system, anti-glare rearview mirror, a power tailgate, and 10 airbags.
Powering this midsize SUV is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 199hp and 320Nm and is mated to an Aisin 6-speed intelligent all-wheel-drive gearbox.
The 2022 GAC GS8 is available in two variants:
- 4×2 Sports – P2,088,000
- 4×4 GL – P2,288,000
